Copper is earth's natural conductor. It therefore has the ability to conduct and magnify energies, intuitive impulses, and wavelengths. Copper may even combat lethargy by conducting energy through your spirit or aura. It can also amplify your optimism and positivity in a similar fashion. Because it has such a high vibrational frequency and an abundance of positive energy, copper can be used to provide connections to the spiritual world.

Michigan copper, particularly "float copper," is native copper deposited by glaciers in the Upper Peninsula, not typically derived from meteorites. These masses were torn from Keweenaw Peninsula bedrock (Portage Lake Volcanics) and moved by glaciers. While some meteors contain small copper inclusions, Michigan's renowned copper is terrestrial, known for high purity.
Facts about Michigan Copper:
  • Origin: The Keweenaw Peninsula holds the world’s largest deposits of native copper, formed by hydrothermal processes in ancient lava flows.
  • Float Copper: This refers to copper nuggets found in glacial drift—soil, sand, and gravel deposited by glaciers, often miles from their original bedrock source.
  • Distinction: While Michigan has found meteorites (like a 22 lb iron-nickel meteorite found in Edmore), native copper and meteorites are geologically distinct in the state.
  • Appearance: Michigan native copper often features a reddish-brown patina but can be polished to show a bright metallic, reddish-orange color.
